International Online Oral Exchange Volunteer Program

Ongoing Recruitment | February – December 2026

7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. (EST)

Globe Cambridge School is proud to launch our 2026 International Online Oral Exchange Volunteer Program, designed to connect Toronto students with peers in China through structured online English conversation sessions.

This initiative creates a meaningful, real-world English-speaking environment for Chinese elementary, middle, and high school students—while providing Toronto youth with a recognized and impactful community service opportunity.

Through guided small-group discussions, volunteers help students practice spoken English in a welcoming, low-pressure setting that encourages authentic expression and confidence-building.

This is a flexible, low-commitment, high-impact volunteer opportunity that supports leadership development, communication skills, and global citizenship.

Volunteer Role & Responsibilities

Volunteers participate in small-group online cultural exchange sessions, with a GCS educator present throughout the session to ensure structure, safety, and overall coordination.
While a supervising teacher remains online for support, the session is intentionally student-led. This is a guided conversation exchange — not a formal lesson — designed to cultivate leadership, facilitation skills, and the potential to grow into future educators and communicators.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Leading English conversation based on collaboratively developed discussion topics
  • Co-creating talk themes with GCS educators to ensure engaging and age-appropriate dialogue
  • Encouraging active participation and fostering an inclusive, welcoming atmosphere
  • Providing patient language support during moments of hesitation
Gently facilitating interaction when students need prompts or encouragement
  • Modeling confident, respectful communication in a cross-cultural setting
  • Each session is structured but conversational in nature. Volunteers are not expected to teach curriculum content, but rather to guide authentic dialogue and peer interaction.
  • No formal teaching experience is required — only enthusiasm, reliability, and a willingness to lead with empathy.
