Beginning 2026, Junior Kindergarten (JK) will formally become the first entry point into the Globe Cambridge School academic continuum.
For many families in Ontario, Kindergarten marks the true beginning of a child’s educational journey. Too often, however, students start in one environment only to transition again a year later — a shift that can interrupt early academic momentum and social confidence.
By introducing JK at GCS, we are creating a seamless, thoughtfully designed starting point — one that allows children to begin and continue their journey within a consistent academic culture from age four onward.
A Purposefully Designed Beginning
Our JK program is not childcare. It is the first stage of structured, school-based learning within GCS.
Grounded in the Ontario Kindergarten framework and aligned with the IB Primary Years philosophy, the program is intentionally designed around four foundational domains:
Language & Early Literacy — building confident communicators
Mathematical Thinking & Problem-Solving — developing logical reasoning
Social-Emotional Growth & Self-Regulation — strengthening independence and classroom readiness
Curiosity, Inquiry & Early Global Awareness — nurturing wonder and perspective
Through a balanced approach of intentional play, guided instruction, and inquiry-based exploration, students develop strong foundations in communication, numeracy, and executive functioning.
Enriched Early Years Experience
JK students also benefit from specialist instruction in:
- French
- Music
- Visual Arts
- Movement & Physical Literacy
- Outdoor Learning
These experiences cultivate creativity, resilience, and confidence — qualities that extend well beyond the classroom.
At GCS, JK is not an isolated year. It is the intentional first step within a clearly articulated academic pathway:
IB Primary Years (Grades 1–5)
Pre-AP (Grades 6–8)
AP & OSSD (Grades 9–12)
By beginning in JK, students enter a stable academic ecosystem designed for long-term growth, structured progression, and personalized attention.
We are thoughtfully preparing for this important milestone, including dedicated classroom spaces, specialized early-years educators, curriculum planning, and a clear admissions process.
Applications for September 2026 are now open.

A strong beginning shapes everything that follows.
